Hanmaum Seon Center of
Busan

Hanmaum Seon Center of Busan is dedicated to helping all beings learn to rely upon and discover their inherent Buddha-nature. In so doing they can discover this interconnected whole that we call Hanmaum, or one mind. In awakening to this and learning to live in tune with it, each of us can go forward on our own path of spiritual evolution with energy, wisdom, and as a blessing to all around us.

In 1987, a small flame of one mind was kindled in Korea’s great port city, where the ocean meets countless stories from around the world. Since then, we’ve shared Seon Master Daehaeng’s teachings through grand dharma gatherings and quiet daily practice, walking alongside anyone searching for their true self. (In 2012, our beautiful wooden Dharma hall was completed, and in June 2020, we welcomed a statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva that looks out over the ocean, representing the great compassion that leads all beings lost in the suffering towards the path of liberation and spiritual freedom.)

Here at the edge of Busan’s busy harbor, we simply practice what the Buddha taught—your everyday life is the temple, your own heart the altar. Come join us as we tend this gentle flame together.
