Hanmaum Seon Center of
Tongyeong

Hanmaum Seon Center of Tongyeong is dedicated to helping all beings learn to rely upon and discover their inherent Buddha-nature. In so doing they can discover this interconnected whole that we call Hanmaum, or one mind. In awakening to this and learning to live in tune with it, each of us can go forward on our own path of spiritual evolution with energy, wisdom, and as a blessing to all around us.

Our Tongyeong center is located on the Hallyeo Waterway, on a wide-open mountain top. After first opening in 1997, the heartfelt wish of our abbess, Hye Yeon Sunim, and our sangha led us to our current home in May 2015. We held the dedication ceremony for our main Dharma hall in October 2018.

Here, on this land, we have created a home for practice with a Dharma hall, a children's hall, and two more large halls where our community can practice together.

Our purpose has always been simple: "To be a place that guides all beings to realize the ultimate goal of the Dharma — our interconnected one mind — and to illuminate the Buddha-nature they have always carried within, so they may walk the path of awakening."
