Hanmaum Seon Center of
Buenos Aires

Hanmaum Seon Center of Buenos Aires is dedicated to helping all beings learn to rely upon and discover their inherent Buddha-nature. In so doing they can discover this interconnected whole that we call Hanmaum, or one mind. In awakening to this and learning to live in tune with it, each of us can go forward on our own path of spiritual evolution with energy, wisdom, and as a blessing to all around us.

The Buenos Aires Branch of Hanmaum Seon Center, aligned with Anyang headquarters, guides the people, through a variety of practice experiences, to realize the Buddhism ultimate purpose which is Hanmaum, i.e. to realize that every being has its immanent Buddha-nature, learn how to use its infinite potential, practice and finally attain Buddhahood.

The history of Buenos Aires Branch of Hanmaum Seon Center dates back to 1989, when a group of Korean residents in Buenos Aires, Argentina, began holding Dharma gatherings. These early gatherings relied on cassettes and videocassettes featuring the Dharma talks of Seon Master Daehaeng. In November, 1991, the Branch officially opened at 628 Portela Steet. Hye-dong Sunim served as the Branch’s director since its founding, and continues to hold that position to this day.

In December 1992, the Branch relocated to its current address at Miró 1575. Construction of the site began that same year and was completed in March 1997.

Since 2001, the Branch has offered Dharma gatherings with Spanish simultaneous interpretation for Argentinian practitioners. A significant milestone was reached in November 2003 with the publication of the first Spanish-language book of Seon Master Daehaeng’s teachings, titled El Camino Interior (The Inner Path). In December of that same year, the Branch held its first Buddhist Precepts ceremony.

In October 2005, it participated in the Frankfurt Book Fair, supporting the Hanmaum International Culture Institute. At the event, the teachings of Seon Master Daehaeng were presented in multiple languages, including Korean, Spanish, English, German, and Chinese. The Spanish publications at the time included El Camino Interior (The Inner Path), Vida de la Maestra Seon Daehaeng (The Life of Seon Master Daehaeng), and Enseñanzas de la Maestra Daehaeng (Teachings of Master Daehaeng).

Later, in 2010, additional books were presented in the mentioned bookfair, including Si te lo propones no hay imposibles (If You Set Your Mind to It, Nothing Is Impossible) and Una semilla inherente alimenta el Universo (An Inherent Seed Nourishes the Universe).

Currently, the Buenos Aires Branch continues to host Dharma gatherings in Korean with Spanish interpretation, welcoming both Korean and Argentinian practitioners. The Branch actively engages with modern technology, translating into Spanish, English, and French, and sharing the teachings of Seon Master Daehaeng on social media platforms like YouTube. In 2024, it achieved another milestone with the completion of the Spanish translation of the Thousand Hands Sutra.
